Molaga Podi (South Indian Gunpowder)

INGREDIENTS –

Urad Dal – 1/4 cup
Channa dal – 1/4 cup
Dry chilli – 8
Sesame seeds – 1/4 cup
Asafoetida – 1/2 tsp
Salt – 1.5 tsp
Peanuts – 1/4 cup
Sugar – 1 tbsp (optional)
Flaxseed – 2 tbsp
Chia seeds – 2 tbsp
Desiccated Coconut – 1/2 cup

PROCEDURE –

1) Roast all ingredients one at a time in a dry skillet till lightly golden and fragrant. Except for Salt, Sugar and Asafoetida.
2) Let everything cool down completely.
3) Grind together with Salt, Sugar and Asafoetida into a coarse mixture.
4) Store in an airtight container in the fridge.
